No Need To Lose Your Old Email Address

One of the biggest worries about getting a new email address is losing the old one and therefore losing emails sent to that old address.

Normally you can continue to pick up your old emails, keeping your old email address while still moving to a new Internet Service Provider - upgrading to broadband perhaps? - if that is what you wish to do.

For example, your old ISP may have a pay-per-use package where you keep your email address with them and pay by the minute for accessing the internet with them. You don't actually have to access the internet via their service at all and your email will continue to work. When connected to the internet via another ISP, you will not be able to send email through your old email service provider, but you can pick them up ok. Sending will be done via your new, ISP-independent email address.

Although you can normally continue to use your old email address at the same time as the new one, we would recommend that you encourage your correspondents to use your new ISP-independent email address. The old ISP may at any time remove their email service or change their conditions of use.
